# Settings

On the settings page, you'll largely see the same options as in the initial setup, but with a few new additions. For information on resource types to record, storage, and SNS notifications, see the section on how to enable AWS config. The additional settings are:

1. Enable recorder – Unchecking this box will disable the recorder. This will prevent new configuration changes from being recorded. Rules that are periodically recorded will not be affected.
2. Data retention period – This can be set to default (seven years) or a custom value. When any configuration items reach this age, they will be deleted.
